SEA DOGS NOTEBOOK

THREE GAMER AHEAD
The Sea Dogs hit the road this week for a three game, four day Quebec road swing. On Thursday the Sea Dogs face Chicoutimi (7-6-1-3) at 8:00 pm. Friday the Dogs head to Baie-Comeau (4-12-1-0) who sits last in the Telus east division. After a day off Saturday, Saint John takes on Rimouski (9-4-3-0) in an afternoon tilt on Sunday.

It should be noted that the Friday game begins at 8:30 pm AST, meaning you should have time to catch the early David Copperfield show at Harbour Station and than listen to the game afterwards.

GALIEV GETS HIGH PRAISE
Mark Seidel of The Hockey News had high praise for the Sea Dogs' Stanislav Galiev. He ranks Galiev 10th in the world for the 2010 NHL entry draft. The first overall pick in the 2009 CHL import draft is tied for the lead in team scoring and sits second in rookie scoring in the QMJHL with 6G-11A-17Pts.

HOT DOGS OF THE Q
Rogers Sportsnet has named the Sea Dogs this weeks "hot team" in the QMJHL. Patrick King wrote this about the Sea Dogs in his weekly column:

"The Sea Dogs took care of their Atlantic Division rivals with three wins, beating Halifax once and Acadie-Bathurst twice. Saint John extended their winning streak to five games and is seeing solid contributions from every line. First overall import draft pick, Stanislav Galiev, is becoming a regular contributor, as he assisted on four goals in a win over the Titan."

RARE JUNIOR HOCKEY DOUBLE
I don't often post article links to the Telegraph-Journal but this a is an excellent story in today's paper. The article, written by Sea Dogs columnist Peter McGuire, answers a lot of questions about Nicholas Petersen's married life.

KIRKPATRICK'S TIME TO SHINE
Center Michael Kirkpatrick has a big opportunity to impress NHL scouts who have overlooked him by being named to team QMJHL. This is Kirkpatrick's first Subway Super Series.

"It's a big honour to get selected out of all the great hockey players in the Q,'' Kirkpatrick told the Telegraph-Journal. "It's definitely a big motivation. I'm going to work as hard as I can and hopefully they'll see what I can do.''

Kirkpatrick attended Minnesota Wild training camp in September.

FOUNDATION MAKING CALENDARS
The Dogs Bytes newsletter said on Friday that the Saint John Sea Dogs Foundation will be selling team calendars. They will be "coming soon" said the newsletter. The calendars appear to be of the page turning variety.
