THREE DOGS NAMED TO ALL-STAR TEAM

The Saint John John Sea Dogs will be well represented in the 2009 Subway Super Series. The roster announcement was made today by the two host teams of Drummondville and Shawinigan. The three players will help team QMJHL take on a Russian squad in the annual event.

Michael Kirkpatrick, Yann Sauve, and Simon Despres were named to the league's only all-star event. Stanislav Galiev will likely suit up for the Russian squad. Only Canadian born players can play for team QMJHL.

This will be Kirkpatrick's first time representing team QMJHL. Sauve has played in three Subway Super Series' in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Despres played in the 2007 and 2008 event.

Drummondville will host the first game of the series on Monday, November 16 at the Marcel-Dionne Centre while Shawinigan will host game two at the Bionest Centre on Wednesday, November 18. Then, Team Russia heads west to play two games versus the OHL and WHL All-Stars. The two games will be broadcasted on RDS and all six games will air on Rogers Sportsnet.

The event formally known as the ADT Canada/Russia Challenge plays a big role in selecting Canada's world junior team, making this a big pair of games for world junior hopefuls Yann Sauve and Simon Despres.

Game 2 of this event was held in Saint John last year.
