Kelly, a Saint John native, was drafted by the Sea Dogs in the second round of this past summer's QMJHL entry draft. Kelly plays down the street for the Saint John Vito's of the NB-PEI Midget AAA Hockey League. The 16-year-old forward had played in four games this season for the Dogs. He hasn't registered any points and is a -1.

With Oliver Ouellet's status unknown, Kelly could be getting the call soon to join the junior club.

The team is coached by former Sea Dogs assistant coach Jim Midgley. The director of hockey operations is Jim Leland, Saint John's video coach.

"This event always requires everyone to be at their best and we are excited to take these 22 guys to that stage," said Midgley to the Times & Transcript. "We will count on all 22 players pulling in the right direction in order for the team to achieve success."
