NO THIRD JERSEY FOR NEXT SEASON

SAINT JOHN – There has been a change of plans.

According to today’s Telegraph-Journal, the Saint John Sea Dogs have decided against having a third jersey for next season.

From T-J columnist Peter McGuire:

A year ago the Sea Dogs put out a call for public input into the design of a third jersey. Over time, the idea seemed to have fallen off the radar.
"We couldn't get anything that really appealed to us," said Sea Dogs vice-president Mike McGraw.
The Sea Dogs held a design-a-third-jersey contest last spring but there has been no real mention of it sense. According to a team release from last year, the designs were evaluated by Sea Dogs team personnel and the winner’s design could be submitted to Reebok and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for approval.

In the Maritimes Division this season, the Halifax Mooseheads, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Moncton Wildcats, and Prince Edward Island Rocket all have alternate jerseys that are worn on occasion.

The idea of someday having a third Sea Dogs jersey to go with the traditional blue and white has been erased, though.

The idea is not dead, however. Saint John hopes to introduce a third jersey for the 2013-14 season. The team has to make its intention known before a May deadline.
"Reebok looks after all jerseys, from the NHL to major junior and everywhere in between. They have a lot of other sports too so they have their time lines."
If you submitted a design that did not make the grade, send the image to stationnation@yahoo.ca and we will share it.
