The Toronto Sun’s recap. One thing is clear: The Owen Sound Attack and Saint John Sea Dogs deserve an encore performance.

Buzzing The Net’s recap. One night after a game everyone couldn't wait to see end, came one no one wanted to see end.

The National Post’s recap. “DeSerres kept his team in the game” – Jordan Binnigton

Rogers Sportsnet’s recap. The Sea Dogs battled back from an early 2-0 deficit to win in an exciting game 3-2 at 17:35 of overtime.

Mississauga.com’s recap. “That five-on-three was critical for us to score and we didn’t” - Owen Sound coach Mark Reeds.

SAINT JOHN SCRATCHES
Steven Anthony missed his seventh straight game with a lower-body injury. The Vancouver Canucks prospect has not played since Game One of the President’s Cup final.

Jason Cameron is out of the tournament with a bruised kidney.

Healthy scratches were defensemen Jason Seed and Spencer MacDonald, forward Devon Oliver-Dares, and goaltender Jacob Edwards.

HUBERDEAU’S GOAL
Overall, Jonathan Huberdeau didn’t play his best game. But in the end, not too many people are going to remember that.

Michael Kirkpatrick’s pass at 17:35 of the first overtime found the stick of Huberdeau who was alone in front, allowing him to beat Owen Sound netminder Jordan Binnington for the win.

"Michael Kirkpatrick got the puck out of the corner to me," the 17-year-old top prospect said to the Toronto Sun, "and I thought I didn't get it at first, but it hit the post and went in.

“I always know where Hubie is and hats off to him for burying that goal,’’ Kirkpatrick said to the Telegraph-Journal, noting the game-winner began with a simple dump by Despres. “Despres has been playing amazing for us and for him to just dump the puck, it can all start with that. It worked out for us and hopefully things continue to work out.’’

Huberdeau was even trending on Twitter after he scored the goal.

The win improves Saint John to 5-0 in overtime in post-season play. Their last two OT games came in the President’s Cup final with both of those contests going to double-overtime.

THOMAS’ BEARD
Mike Thomas’ epic beard was a hot topic during the Rogers Sportsnet broadcast last night, comparing it to Mike Commodore’s.

Commodore tweeted to Thomas that “you look fantastic. Great work and good luck. I am def cheering for you.”

DeSERRES WAS UNREAL
Sea Dogs goaltender Jacob DeSerres was excellent in the tournament opener against Mississauga and he was just as good last night against Owen Sound.

DeSerres made 47 stops – many of them game saving – to earn the win. He’ll now get his shot at redemption and, for the second straight year, will play in the Memorial Cup final.

Mike Ganter of QMI Agency has a solid breakdown of DeSerres performance.

“It’s incredible,” DeSerres said of making it back to the final to QMI Agency. “Not too many people get a second chance like this,” he said. “I’m just trying to make sure I make the most of it.”

MONEY QUOTE
From the National Post:

“No, it does not get me off my game,” DeSerres said of the traffic in his crease. “It pisses me off and if anything it just makes me want to stop the puck and piss them off.”
QUICK HITS
Danick Gauthier ran into the Attack’s bench door and was in some discomfort. He left for a few minutes but would return… Cole Pender, a young Sea Dogs fan battling leukemia, was given a nice shout out by the Rogers Sportsnet crew… QMJHL commissioner Gilles Courteau was interviewed during the match… there was a moment of silence before the game to honour Ian Jenkins, a London Knights prospect who passed away yesterday morning following a car crash… Attack star forward Joey Hishon did not play after being injured in Sunday’s game against Kootenay… it was a rough game for Sea Dogs defenseman Gabriel Bourret who took three penalties and deflected an Owen Sound goal… to relive the match, check out the SN Live Blog Replay.
