Sea Dogs Host Titan In Final Pre-Season Game

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs wrap up their 2011 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League pre-season schedule this evening against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at Harbour Station. Game time is 7pm.

The Sea Dogs are 2-2-0-0 in exhibition play. They dropped both of their opening games against the Moncton Wildcats but have since rebounded with two straight wins against the Prince Edward Island Rocket

Saint John defeated the Rocket 7-4 last night at UPEI’s MacLauchlan Arena. Steven Anderson, Aidan Kelly, Alexandre Beauregard, Oliver Cooper, Scott Oke, McKenzie Brown and Pierre Durepos all scored in the victory.

Richard Tingley allowed a goal on 17 shots in the first half of the game, giving way to Charlie Millen who allowed three markers on 10 shots.

Despite blowing a 4-1 lead at one point, it was one of Saint John’s better games so far this year. The Sea Dogs were often able to capitalize on Rocket mistakes.

“We got under the other team's nerves, they were coughing up pucks left and right,” said Anderson to the Charlottetown Guardian. “I thought it was one of our best third periods of the pre-season.”

Brock Morrison continues to lead the Sea Dogs in pre-season scoring with four goals and an assist. Danick Gauthier is a close second with four helpers.

Forwards Morrison and Oliver Cooper and defenseman Ryan Kelly are the only players who have played in all four Sea Dogs pre-season games.

The Titan enter tonight's contest with a 1-3-0-0 record. They have been outscored 22-16 in four games.

Michael Lyle was the Titan’s leading scorer with three goals and two assists but was cut by the team last week. Christophe Lalancette now leads the team with a goal and three assists.

There are 24 players remaining at Titan camp.
