Bourret Gets First Goal, Assist With Chicoutimi

Former Saint John Sea Dog and Memorial Cup Champion Gabriel Bourret found the score sheet for the first time as a member of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Saturday night.

Bourret recorded a goal and an assist in Chicoutimi’s 7-6 victory over the Drummondville Voltigeurs at the Georges Vezina Centre. The defenseman was also a +2.

Bourret, who will turn 19 in October, had eight goals and 25 assists in 63 regular season games with Saint John last year. He added three assists in 19 playoff games, helping the Sea Dogs capture their first President’s Cup and eventually Memorial Cup.

Saint John traded Bourret to Chicoutimi in June in exchange for a second round pick in the 2012 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft.

The Sagueneens visit Saint John on October 29, the night the Sea Dogs will be raising their championship banners to the rafters of Harbour Station.
