Huberdeau Named First Star In Win

Jonathan Huberdeau had an impressive outing in his first ever National Hockey League pre-season game.

Huberdeau deflected in an Eric Gudbranson shot and then assisted on Mike Santorelli's power play marker in the Florida Panthers 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators last night.

The Saint John Sea Dogs star was named first star for his efforts. He had 16:36 of ice time. He spent time on both the power play and the penalty kill.

"It was a great day, a great moment for me,'' said Huberdeau to the Florida Sun-Sentinel. "It's just the beginning. I've got to work hard if I want to make the team this year.''

Here is Huberdeau speaking with the media after the game:

Elsewhere, former Sea Dog Mike Hoffman had one shot and 10:17 of ice time in the Ottawa Senators’ 4-2 loss to the Toronto  Maple Leafs.
