Saint John Faces Cape Breton Tomorrow

It has been roughly an eternity since the Saint John Sea Dogs last played a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game.

The Sea Dogs last hit the ice one week ago Friday when their depleted lineup was blasted 8-1 by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Brock Morrison scored the only Saint John goal while Sebastien Auger allowed eight goals on 27 shots.

Saint John will be looking to erase the memories of that game when they take on the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles tomorrow night at 7pm at Centre 200. The contest is the Screaming Eagles’ home opener.

Cape Breton is off to a 1-1-0-0 start. They beat the Moncton Wildcats 3-1 last Friday and fell 7-4 to the PEI Rocket on Saturday. William Carrier leads the Eagles in scoring with two goals and two assists.

The Eagles may be missing some key players tomorrow but it still doesn't compare to who the Sea Dogs will be without.

Sea Dogs that took part in National Hockey League rookie camps include Stephen MacAulay and Ryan Tesink (both St. Louis), Danick Gauthier and Alexandre Beauregard (both Phoenix), Mathieu Corbeil (Columbus), Stanislav Galiev (Washington), Jonathan Huberdeau (Florida), Tomas Jurco (Detroit), Scott Oke (Dallas), Pierre Durepos (Los Angeles), Ian Saab (Vancouver), Nathan Beaulieu (Montreal), and Zack Phillips (Minnesota).

Most rookie camps have come to an end but many of those players will stay with their respective clubs and take part in main camp. Most NHL training camp rosters should be released by tomorrow.

After tomorrow’s game, the Sea Dogs will host the Rocket on Sunday afternoon at Harbour Station. Please note that all Sunday games at the Station will start at 3pm this year.
