Despres Nets First NHL Goal


Simon Despres made some history on Saturday, becoming the first ex-Saint John Sea Dog to ever score a National Hockey League goal. Despres netted his first career NHL goal on a power play at 6:07 of the firstperiod. Tyler Kennedy and Jason Williams picked up assists.


Despres picked up second star honours for his performance. He also had two shots, a +2 rating, and 20:07 of ice time. The Pens defeated the Buffalo Sabres 8-3.

The former Sea Dogs defenseman now has a goal and two assists in eight games at the NHL level.
