Cataractes Lose In Halifax

MONCTON – The Shawinigan Cataratces lost 3-2 to the Halifax Mooseheads this afternoon at the Metro Centre, losing two crucial points in the race for first place.

The Cataractes now find themselves just one-point ahead of the Saint John Sea Dogs with eight games to play. The Sea Dogs still have 10 matches remaining on their schedule, including a game tonight in Moncton against the Wildcats.

Halifax, who led 2-1 after two periods, had goals from Martin Frk, Jonathan Drouin, and Andrew Ryan. Zack Fucale started his millionth game in goal, making 32 stops for the win.

Shawinigan’s goals came courtesy of Max Le Sieur and Kirill Kabanov. Gabriel Girard allowed three goals on 26 shots.

The Cataractes, 40-13-3-4 overall and 6-2-1-1 in their last 10, travel to Moncton to play the Wildcats tomorrow afternoon.

After tonight’s game, the Sea Dogs host the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles tomorrow and the Wildcats on Tuesday.
