Sea Dogs Ranked 2nd In CHL

SAINT JOHN – After a successful weekend, the Saint John Sea Dogs have jumped to No. 2 in the Canadian Hockey League rankings. The latest edition of the BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 Rankings were released this afternoon.

The Sea Dogs needed a shootout on Friday night to beat the Drummondville Voltigeurs 3-2 at the Marcel Dionne Centre. Then on Saturday, Saint John defeated the Shawinigan Cataractes 2-1 in dramatic fashion, extending their lead atop the overall standings to three points.

Saint John currently has a record of 38-13-0-2 for 78 points on the season. They were ranked fourth nationally a week ago.

Other Quebec Major Junior Hockey League teams in this week’s top 10 were the Cataractes at No. 5 and the Quebec Remparts at No. 9. The Victoriaville Tigres were an honourable mention.

The weekly rankings of the Canadian Hockey League’s Top 10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.

In Buzzing The Net’s Dynamic Dozen this week, the Sea Dogs were ranked first.

This week, the Sea Dogs play twice. They travel to PEI to face the Rocket on Saturday afternoon and then host the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Sunday at 3pm at Harbour Station.
