Reports: Beauregard Signs With Trenton

According to the Chicoutimi newspaper Le Quotidien, Alexandre Beauregard, hero of the Saint John Sea Dogs’ 2011 President’s Cup Champioship, has signed with the East Coast Hockey League’s Trenton Titans. This Titans insider blog also confirms the signing.

The Titans are the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Beauregard only played 30 career regular season games with the Sea Dogs but certainly made an impact. Along with providing toughness and leadership, Beauregard scored the double-overtime goal of Game 6 of the 2011 President’s Cup final in Gatineau to give Saint John their first QMJHL championship.

The St. Jerome, Quebec native registered eight goals and six assists in his 30-game regular season career with Saint John. He had a goal and two helpers in 19 playoff games in 2011.

As an overager last year, he started the campaign with the Sea Dogs but was traded to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens shortly after the season started. He had a solid year with the Sags, helping them reach the QMJHL semi-final where they were eliminated by Saint John. Beauregard recorded 14 points in 32 regular season games with Chicoutimi and added another six in 14 playoff matches.

The 2011-12 season was anything but a smooth ride for the 21-year old. He missed a couple months of action after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. His emotional return to action in March against his former team was definitely one of the season’s most memorable moments.

Trenton’s regular season begins on October 12 against Greenville.
