MONCTON – For just the third time this season, the Saint
John Sea Dogs take on the Moncton Wildcats. Game time tonight is 7pm at the
Moncton Coliseum.
The two rivals haven’t met since September 30 at the
Coliseum where the Sea Dogs surprised the Wildcats with a 5-1 victory. Saint
John is 2-0 against Moncton this year.
Things have changed quite a bit since they last met. The
Sea Dogs have dipped below the .500 mark while the Wildcats have recovered from
their sluggish start and currently sit seventh overall in the Quebec Major
Junior Hockey League standings.
Moncton enters action this evening with a 21-11-0-0
record which is good for 42 points and second place in the Telus Maritimes
Division. The ‘Cats have been playing well of late and are 8-2-0-0 in their
last 10. They’ll look to keep things rolling tonight.
Meanwhile, Saint John heads into tonight’s game with a
15-16-0-0 record which is good for 30 points on the year. They currently sit
fourth in the Telus Maritimes Division and 13th overall in the
QMJHL. The Dogs are 5-5-0-0 in their last 10 and are coming off a 3-1 victory
over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Tuesday night at Harbour Station.
Both teams will be without their leading scorers tonight
as Jonathan Huberdeau and Dmitri Jaskin are away preparing for the World Junior
Hockey Championships.

LAST GAMES
The Sea Dogs are coming off a 3-1 win over the Cape
Breton Screaming Eagles on Tuesday night at Harbour Station. Oliver Cooper,
Kevin Gagne, and Aidan Kelly scored for the Sea Dogs. Sebastien Auger made 22
saves in the win.
The Wildcats are coming off a 5-3 win over the
Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Tuesday night at the Moncton Coliseum. Christophe
Lalonde scored twice while singles came from Connor Garland, Alex Saulnier, and
James Melindy. Cole Holowenko made 30 saves for the win.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The Sea Dogs are 2-0-0-0 against the Wildcats this season
while Moncton is 0-2-0-0 against Saint John.
Their last meeting was on September 30 in Moncton where
the Sea Dogs defeated the Wildcats 5-1. Jonathan Huberdeau, Jason Cameron, Ryan
Tesink, Oliver Cooper, and Stephen Anderson scored for Saint John. Ryan Penny
had Moncton’s lone goal. Sebastien Auger made 42 saves in the win while Alex
