Sea Dogs loss to the Drummondville Voltigeurs…
Our recap. The Sea Dogs set their sights on the visiting
Drummondville Voltigeurs on Sunday afternoon as the teams went head to head at
Harbour Station.

the Drummondville Voltigeurs, they had been generating lots of pressure in the
third period.

The Canadian Press’ recap. Jerome Verrier scored the
winning goal at 16:34 of the third period while on the power play and
Louis-Philip Guindon stopped 26 shots as Drummondville (32-23-4) handed the Sea
Dogs (21-37-1) their fourth loss in a row.
SaintJohnSeaDogs.com’s recap. Sebastien Auger did as much
as he could to keep the Saint John Sea Dogs in the game, but the Drummondville
Volitgeurs took home a 1-0 decision over the Sea Dogs. The biggest crowd of the
season of 5,861 took in Sunday afternoon’s Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
action at Harbour Station.
SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without Jeremy Doucet
(healthy), Justin Dickinson (healthy), Pierre Durepos (lower body), and Brett
Malone (healthy) on Sunday afternoon.
Durepos missed his second straight game with a lower body
injury.
THIRD: After a fairly even first two periods, Drummondville
took over the game in the third period. The Volts out shot the Sea Dogs 22-7 in
the third and maintained possession for much of the frame. An unfortunate high
sticking penalty by Jakub Izacky at 16:18 gave Drummondville the break they
needed as Jerome Verrier scored the only goal of the match at 16:34.
VERRIER: Impressive game by Jerome Verrier. He connected
for the game-winner and only goal of the game at 16:34 of the third, had a team high nine shots,
and had four hits. Verrier leads the Volts in scoring with 30 goals and 36
assists for 66 points in 59 games.
MEDIA BREAK: In the third period during a
media time out, the entire Sea Dogs team cleared the bench to listen to Mike
Kelly.

AUGER: Another unreal performance from Sebastien Auger
yesterday. He made 44 saves including 21 in the third period. The Sea Dogs are
giving up an average of 35.51 shots against per game this season, the second worst
average in the league.
CROWD: 5,875 watched this one at Harbour Station. It was
the biggest crowd of the year, breaking the previous mark of 5,330 on New Year’s
Eve. Saint John is averaging 3,844 fans per game with four home games
remaining.
VS DRUMM: The Sea Dogs will finish the season with a
0-2-0-0 record against Drummondville while the Volts finish with a 2-0-0-0
record against Saint John.
STANDINGS: The Dogs fell to 21-37-1-0 on the season with
yesterday’s loss and remain 15th overall in the league and two
points ahead of the 16th-place Sherbrooke Phoenix. Each team has
nine games left on their schedule.
NOTES: Sea Dogs captain Pierre Durepos turned 21 on
Sunday… Olivier Archambault was injured after taking a hit in the first period.
He stayed down on the ice for a few moments before heading back the bench. He would
be okay and returned to action soon after… Ian Saab took two minor penalties in
the first period and three overall… also in the first, Jerome Verrier got right
up in Sebastien Auger’s grill and the two appeared to exchange words… Harlem
Shake has replaced Gangnam Style at the end of the dance cam… Maxime
Villemaire had seven shots… Olivier LeBlanc had four hits… Spencer Smallman
went 7/8 on faceoffs… Saint John won 33 of 56 faceoffs overall… pile of the
hits in this game. Hits ended 22-21 in favour of Drummondville.
