SAINT JOHN – The Charlottetown Islanders have been slump
busters for the Saint John Sea Dogs this season.
On November 2nd at Harbour Station, the Sea
Dogs ended a nine-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Islanders.
Tonight at 99 Station St. the Dogs will be looking to end an eight-game skid
against the very same Isles squad. Puck drop takes place at 7pm.
Saint John has not won a game since that November 2nd
victory. They are 1-8-0-1 in their last 10 games and sit 17th
overall in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with a record of 6-18-0-3. It’s
been a rough stretch to say the least.
Tonight’s contest begins a stretch of five straight home
games for the Sea Dogs. They will then close out the first half with four
straight on the road.
After a hot start to the season, Charlottetown has cooled
down over the past few weeks. The Isles sit second in the Telus Maritimes
Division and 11th overall in the QMJHL with a 13-11-1-2 record. They
are just 3-6-1-0 in their last 10 and have lost back-to-back games.
Rookie Daniel Sprong leads Charlottetown in scoring with
13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 27 games. His 13 goals are the most on
the team and his 17 assists tie him with Jack Nevins for the team high. Sprong
sits second in the QMJHL rookie scoring.

LAST GAMES
The Sea Dogs are coming off a 5-0 loss in Halifax on
Saturday night. Sebastien Auger made 37 saves in the loss.
The Islanders are coming off a 2-1 loss in Baie-Comeau on
Saturday. Alexandre Goulet scored Charlottetown’s only goals while Antoine Bibeau
made 43 saves in the loss.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The Sea Dogs are 1-2-0-1 against the Islanders this
season while Charlottetown is 3-1-0-0 against Saint John.
Their last meeting was on November 2nd at
Harbour Station where the Sea Dogs defeated the Islanders 4-2. Oliver Cooper
had a hat trick in that game for Saint John while Matthew Highmore added a
single. Alexandre Goulet and Jack Nevin scored for Charlottetown. Sebastien
Auger made 46 saves in the win while Eric Brassard made 34 in the loss.
