SAINT JOHN – The good news for the Saint John Sea Dogs is that they won’t have much time to dwell on one of their worst performances of the season.

The Sea Dogs lost 5-0 on home ice to the Victoriaville Tigres – who sit 13^th overall in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League – last night. Saint John’s struggling offense was the main story as it hard a difficult time getting anything going.

But the Sea Dogs will have an opportunity to make up for last night’s game as they host the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles this evening at 7pm at Harbour Station. It is Saint John’s final home game of the first half.

Saint John enters action tonight with a 7-21-0-3 record and are last in the Telus Maritimes Division and 17^th overall. Not that it matters a ton, but the 18^th overall Shawinigan Cataractes are slowly gaining ground on the Dogs. With a win last night, the Cataractes are four points back and have played one less game.

Oliver Cooper leads the Sea Dogs in scoring with nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points in 31 games.

Meanwhile, the Screaming Eagles enter play today on a three-game winning streak. They sit second in the Maritimes Division and 10^th overall with a 16-11-0-3 record. They are also a solid 7-2-0-1 in their last 10 games.

American Cameron Darcy continues to lead the Eagles in scoring with 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points in 30 games.

LAST GAME

The Sea Dogs are coming off a 5-0 loss to the Victoriaville Tigres last night. Sebastien Auger made 29 saves in the loss.

The Screaming Eagles are coming off a 6-3 win over the Quebec Remparts on Wednesday night at Centre 200. Charles-Eric Legare had two goals while singles came from Timothe Simard, Raphael Corriveau, Maxim Lazarev, and Jeremy Beaudry. Alex Bureau made 29 saves in the win.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The Sea Dogs are 0-1-0-1 against the Screaming Eagles this season while Cape Breton is 2-0-0-0 against Saint John.

Their last meeting was on November 22^nd at Harbour Station when the Sea Dogs lost 2-1 in a shootout to the Screaming Eagles. Nathan Noel and Jason Bell had regulation time goals. Maxim Lazarev had the only shootout goal. Sebastien Auger made 39 saves in the loss while Alex Bureau made 23 in the win.
