Grant, called up by the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, made his
NHL debut on Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks. The 24-year old
defenseman took a hooking penalty in the second period but made up for it in
the third when he netted his first NHL goal at 12:50.
Beautiful goal.
The Antigonish native saw 10:10 of ice time. Unfortunately
for Grant and the Ducks, the Sharks would win the game in a shootout.
He is also apparently the first defenseman to score in
his NHL debut in Ducks history.
Grant has been having a good year in the American Hockey
League and currently leads the Norfolk Admirals in scoring with six goals and
six assists for 12 points in 19 games.
The first overall pick in the 2005 QMJHL Entry Draft,
Grant played with the Sea Dogs from 2005-2009. He was a fourth-round pick of
the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2007 NHL Draft and was acquired by the Ducks in
a trade this summer.
