Michael Abbott Injured

UPDATE: According to today's Telegraph-Journal (paywall), Abbott will have surgery on December 19th and is "expected to require at least two months of recovery."

Some unfortunate news released this afternoon via the Sea Dogs Twitter account.
Abbott was leading the Sea Dogs in scoring earlier this season but has cooled down of late. The 19-year old defenseman has six goals and 10 assists in 22 games this year, good for 18th in scoring amongst Quebec Major Junior Hockey League d-men.

The loss of Abbott is a significant loss to Saint John’s power play. The Newfoundlander has a bomb of a shot with all six of his goals coming on the man advantage.

Saint John plays their final two home games before Christmas on Friday and Saturday night at Harbour Station.
