Chase Gaudet Brought Up

The Sea Dogs have made a goaltending swap.

The team announced this afternoon that they have recalled affiliate goaltender Chase Gaudet from the Maritime Junior A Hockey League’s Yarmouth Mariners. He’ll take over backup goaltending duties from Kyle Porter who has been sent back to the NB/PEI Major Midget AAA Hockey League’s Saint John Vitos.

Regular backup Antoine Landry remains out with a lower body injury suffered on January 15th in Moncton. Sebastien Auger has played every minute since.

Gaudet, a 19-year old Summerside native, has a record of 12-7 with a 3.42 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage in 21 games with the Mariners this season. He has QMJHL experience having played a bit with the Shawinigan Cataractes last season. He went 0-5 with a 6.17 GAA and .819 SV%.

The Sea Dogs take on the Cataractes on Wednesday in Shawinigan to begin a three-game Quebec road trip. They also play on Friday in Val-d’Or and Saturday in Rouyn-Noranda.
