Notebook: Happy Anniversary

Two years ago last night, Stanislav Galiev and Tomas Jurco each had five points as they led the Sea Dogs to their second consecutive President Cup title.

Galiev had three goals and two assists while Jurco recorded two goals and three assists in Saint John’s 8-0 victory in Game 4 over the Rimouski Oceanic, completing the series sweep. Zack Phillips, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Danick Gauthier each had a goal and an assist. Mathieu Corbeil made 24 saves for the shutout.

Never forget.

LEBLANC
McKeen’s Hockey magazine has some cool numbers on their website leading up to the NHL Draft next month. Turns out Olivier LeBlanc’s 33 points was the seventh most amongst draft eligible defensemen in the CHL this past season.

THE DRAFT
Willy Palov had a solid article in Friday’s Chronicle Herald on the buzz that is already building for the QMJHL Entry Draft. From the article:

At the same time, Young is well known to be a wheeler-dealer. I would very much expect him to be listening to offers to trade down, especially since he and his staff are still open-minded about who their favourite prospect is.

The draft is on Saturday, May 31 in Sherbrooke.

ICE DOGS
Oh, Hockey News. This is an unfortunate error that appeared in the latest edition of the magazine.
