Three Years Ago...

Three years ago tonight, Alexandre Beauregard scored in double-overtime to give the Saint John Sea Dogs their first President’s Cup title.

Beauregard scored at 15:45 of the second overtime frame to give the Dogs a 3-2 victory in Game 6 over the Gatineau Olympiques. The goal ended an incredible game and an incredible series between the two.

"It happened so quick that all I wanted to do was get a shot on goal," said Beauregard to the Canadian Press after the game. "When I saw it go in it was an incredible feeling. This is amazing."

“I just shot the puck at the net,” he added to the Ottawa Citizen. “The ice wasn’t very good, it was the second overtime and I was tired.

“It’s an incredible feeling.”

A couple often forgotten notes from this game: Zack Phillips and Steven Anthony were both hurt and did not play. Also, the Olympiques were 23 seconds away from forcing a Game 7 but Jonathan Huberdeau tied it. Unreal game.

Of course, the Sea Dogs would go on to win the Memorial Cup in Mississauga.
