REPORT: Dogs Trying To Move Up

According to Mooseheads broadcaster John Moore, the Sea Dogs are still trying to move up in this year’s QMJHL Entry Draft.
The Sea Dogs currently hold the first, ninth and 10th overall picks in tomorrow’s first round.

It’s safe to say Saint John will be holding on to the first pick and taking Joseph Veleno. After that, things get interesting. With two picks in the middle of the first round, the Dogs should be able to move up if they wish. How far they are able to move up is the question.

The Times & Transcript had a story this week where Sea Dogs general manager Darrell Young said he was trying to get a second pick in the top five selections. He also said he made an offer to the Titan for the second overall pick but it was rejected.

After Veleno, forwards Shane Bowers, Maxime Comtois and Antoine Morand will likely be taken in some order. Bowers has said he hasn’t ruled out the NCAA route, meaning there are likely some destinations he will not report to.

The QMJHL Entry Draft takes place tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. in Sherbrooke.
