PRE-SEASON GAME DAY 6: at Moncton

A preview of tonight’s game between the Saint John Sea Dogs and Moncton Wildcats…

When and where: Tonight at 7 p.m., JK Irving Centre, Bouctouche

Records: The Sea Dogs are 3-2-0-0 this pre-season while the Wildcats are 4-1-0-0. Last season, Saint John finished third in the Maritimes Division and 10th overall in the league with a record of 32-26-4-6 for 74 points. The Wildcats finished first in the Maritimes and second overall with a 46-19-0-3 record for 95 points.

Last games: The Sea Dogs and Wildcats met last night at Harbour Station where Moncton edged Saint John 3-1. Eric Leger, Garrett Johnston and Zack MacEwen scored for Moncton while Sam Povorozniouk replied for Saint John. Marc-Antoine Turcotte made 33 saves in the loss while Sebastien Dupre made 24 in the win.

2014-15 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs were 2-6-0-1 against the Wildcats last season while Moncton went 7-2-0-0 against Saint John.

Ex-Sea Dogs on the Wildcats: None

Random stat: The Sea Dogs defeated the Wildcats 5-1 in Bouctouche a couple years ago. Matthew Highmore, Samuel Dove-McFalls, Spencer Smallman and Nathan Noel are the only Saint John players to play in that game and still be with the team.

SJ notes: Matthew Highmore and Sam Povorozniouk are tied for the team lead in scoring with three goals and two assists… Adam Marsh also has three goals… Saint John is 1-1-0-0 on the road this pre-season… Alex Bishop will presumably get the start in goal and play the entire game… this is the final pre-season game for Saint John… this is the third straight meeting for the Sea Dogs against the Wildcats.

MON notes: Kevin Klima now leads Moncton in scoring with one goal and six assists… Kevin Klima’s six assists are tied for the league lead… Kelly Klima, Brendan Bornstein, Zack MacEwen and Eric Leger all have three goals… the Wildcats are 2-0-0-0 as the home team this pre-season.
