More Roster Moves Made Ahead Of Opener

The Sea Dogs have made a few other roster moves ahead of tomorrow’s season opener.

The team announced yesterday that they’ve signed free agent defenseman Shayne Dominie. The 18-year-old Newfoundlander was an 11th-round pick of the Moncton Wildcats in the 2014 QMJHL Entry Draft. He appeared in one of Moncton’s pre-season games this season.

In 28 games with the Central Ice Pak Midget AAA team last year, Dominie recorded five goals and 19 points. He added two goals in four playoff games.

The Sea Dogs, as expected, have also recalled forwards Cedric Pare and Alexandre Lafreniere along with defenseman Kyle Anderson.

According to a team release, “all four players will be available to play when the Sea Dogs open the regular season Saturday, September 12th, at 7 p.m. against the Halifax Mooseheads at Harbour Station.”

The four will help fill some of the holes left in Saint John’s lineup during NHL rookie and training camps. The Sea Dogs will be missing nine regulars.

In other news:

Lurette appeared in one pre-season game and was held pointless. He was a sixth round draft pick of Saint John in this year’s QMJHL Entry Draft.
