DOGS DAILY: Huberdeau Assists Old Man

Jonathan Huberdeau helped move Jaromir Jagr into fourth all-time on the NHL goal scorning list yesterday.

Huberdeau assisted on Jagr’s 732nd career goal, which moves him past Marcel Dionne on the all-time list. As theScore notes, “he's only nine goals shy of Brett Hull for third on the list.”

Huberdeau has four goals and 17 assists in 34 games this season for a Panthers team that only has a +13 goal differential.

Gerard Gallant's Panthers have an 18-12-4 record for 40 points. They currently lead the NHL’s Eastern Conference wildcard standings.

In other news…

  • Mike Hoffman hasn’t scored in his past three games but he has picked up two assists. He now has 17 goals and 15 assists in 30 games this season. He is fifth in the NHL in goals – tying him with Alex Ovechkin.
  • With the trading of Julien Tessier, only three players from the 2014 QMJHL Entry Draft – Luke Green, Matt Green and Kyle Ward – are on Saint John’s active roster.
  • Along with Thomas Chabot playing with Team Canada, Saint John’s Jakub Zboril will officially be playing with the Czech Republic at the world juniors.
  • Not sure why this was used as the Sea Dogs’ intro video last weekend, but it is a nice video.
