GAME DAY 43: vs Mooseheads

The Saint John Sea Dogs (26-13-3-0, 2nd Maritimes, 6th QMJHL) will try and win their seventh straight game tonight against the Halifax Mooseheads (15-23-5-1, 6th Maritimes, 17th QMJHL) at 7 p.m. at Harbour Station.

Last games: The Mooseheads are coming off a 2-0 home win over the Quebec Remparts on Thursday. Connor Moynihan and Andrew Shewfelt scored for Halifax while Eric Brassard stopped all 31 shots he faced. The Sea Dogs are coming off a wild 8-7 overtime victory over the Charlottetown Islanders last night at Harbour Station. Spencer Smallman, Jakub Zboril, Nathan Noel, Matthew Highmore, Joe Veleno, Sam Povorozniouk, Matt Murphy and Mathieu Joseph all scored for Saint John. Marc-Antoine Turcotte was pulled after allowing five goals on 25 shots. Alex Bishop allowed two on 15 in relief.

2015-16 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 3-2-0-0 against the Mooseheads this season while Halifax is 2-2-1-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Dec. 18 at Harbour Station where the Sea Dogs defeated the Mooseheads 3-1. Luke Green, Ryan Chiasson and Nathan Noel scored for Saint John while Maxime Fortier replied for Halifax. Eric Brassard made 44 saves in the loss while Marc-Antoine Turcotte made 18 in the win.

Ex-Sea Dogs on the Mooseheads: Forward Kelly Bent

Player to watch: This will be the first time Kelly Bent has faced the Sea Dogs since the Veleno/Imama/Bent incident last month. It’ll be interesting to see if anything happens between Bent and his old club tonight. Bokondji Imama remains suspended.

Three Things To Know
1. Since Nov. 26, Mathieu Joseph has been held pointless in a game just one time. He has 12 goals and 15 assists during that 16 game span.

2. Luke Green has an impressive four goals and an assist in five games against the Mooseheads this season.

3. Eric Brassard has a solid 2-1-1 record to go along with a 2.96 GAA and .917 SV% against Saint John this season.

Notes: Mathieu Joseph continues to lead Saint John in scoring with 21 goals and 45 points in 38 games. Matthew Highmore is a close second with 14 goals and 42 points in 42 games… the Dogs are 8-1-1-0 in their last 10 games and 7-0-1-0 in their last eight… Saint John is 12-7-2-0 at home this season… Halifax is 5-11-2-1 on the road this year… Nathan Noel has goals in four straight games… Joseph has points in 11 straight home games… the Dogs have won three straight at home… the Moose have lost three straight road games.
