Georgie Named New Sea Dogs President

By Lorne Webster | SN Staff

SAINT JOHN - With former president - and current Saint John-Rothesay MP - Wayne Long in attendance, Saint John Sea Dogs majority owner and CEO Scott McCain introduced Trevor Georgie as the team's new president.

Georgie brings extensive sports and marketing experience to Saint John and the Sea Dogs organization. Most recently he was a senior manager with Wasserman Media Group, which includes RBC and their golf sponsorships (including Jason Day) amongst their clients. Georgie has also worked with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment as well as the Windsor Spitfires (during their Memorial Cup years).

McCain indicated that, during the team's extensive search, the board was looking for a leader with sales and marketing experience, ability to work in a small office and thrive within the culture of the City of Saint John and the Sea Dogs organization. Georgie clearly rated high in all of those areas.

Georgie explained that he intends to engage and listen to the Sea Dogs staff as well as both current and former fans with an eye to increasing the level of excitement around the team - both in the community and at Harbour Station. To do so, Georgie plans to bring experiences and best practices from other leagues and sports to the table. There also will be more focus on the 18-35 age group as the team works to increase attendance in that demographic.

By all accounts, things are sure to get more interesting around the Sea Dogs over the coming months.
