REPORT: Luke Green asks for trade

It's that time of year.

As the QMJHL trade period approaches, so do the rumours and speculation. Here's a rumour that popped up tonight on the Twitter machine:
According to Jean-Francois Plante, who covers the Olympiques for the Gatineau newspaper Le Droit, Sea Dogs defenceman Luke Green has asked for a trade because he is unhappy with how the team has used him.

Direct Google translation:
An influential agent forward Luke Green asked a transaction in St-Jean. Not satisfied with its use. 18 def. #LHJMQ #ledroit
While it may just be a coincidence, the rumour comes a day after the Sea Dogs used Green as a forward. He started Thursday's game as the team's second line right winger, playing alongside Spencer Smallman and Bokondji Imama.

Green has two goals and 12 assists in 25 games with Saint John this season, his third year with the club. He was a third-round pick of the Winnipeg Jets in this summer's NHL Draft.

If Plate's report is true, it would likely be a significant trade for the Sea Dogs. Green, 18, has at least one more full season in the league along with the rest of this one.

Green was selected first overall by the Sea Dogs in the 2014 QMJHL Entry Draft. His twin brother, Matt, was selected by the Sea Dogs that same year. Matt Green has been sidelined with an injury for the past few weeks.

So there's all that. We'll see what happens - and if this report is true.

The QMJHL's trade period begins on Dec. 18 and ends on Jan. 6. The Sea Dogs are expected to be buyers this season.
