Game Day 58: at Cape Breton

Coming off a wild overtime loss on Wednesday, the Saint John Sea Dogs (39-13-4-1, 1st Maritimes, 1st QMJHL) hit the road to face the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles (32-22-2-2, 4th Maritimes, 8th QMJHL) tonight at 7 p.m.

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off an 8-7 overtime loss to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Wednesday. Nathan Noel had a hat trick for Saint John, Spencer Smallman scored twice and singles came from Bokondji Imama and Thomas Chabot. Callum Booth made 17 saves in 20 minutes of action. Alex D'Orio made 18 saves in the final two periods plus OT. The Screaming Eagles are coming off a 5-2 home loss to the Sherbrooke Phoenix on Thursday. Giovanni Fiore and Massimo Carozza scored for Cape Breton. Kevin Mandolese made 28 saves in the loss.

2016-17 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 5-2-0-0 against the Screaming Eagles this season while Cape Breton is 2-5-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Feb. 4 at Harbour Station where the Sea Dogs defeated the Screaming Eagles 7-0. Mathieu Joseph had two goals while solo markers came from Joe Veleno, Jakub Zboril, Simon Bourque, Julien Gauthier and Samuel Dove-McFalls. Callum Booth made 17 saves in the win. Kevin Mandolese made 26 stops in the loss.

Random stat: This is Saint John's final road game until March 15. With four away games remaining, Saint John has a record of 21-7-1-1 on the road and have won 10 straight.

1. The Sea Dogs and Screaming Eagles meet one more time this regular season - March 5 at Harbour Station.

2. The Screaming Eagles have been struggling of late, dropping four straight and are just 4-6 in their past 10. They have fallen to fourth in the Maritimes and are in a battle to earn home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

3. Simon Bourque, who has four goals in the month of February, is second in QMJHL defencemen goal scoring with 14. The Armada's TJ Melancon leads the league with 16.
