Game Day 68: at Halifax

The Saint John Sea Dogs (47-14-5-1, 1st Maritimes, 1st QMJHL, 1st CHL) close out their regular season today in Halifax with a 4 p.m. matchup against the Mooseheads (27-34-3-3, 5th Maritimes, 13th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-3 loss in Charlottetown last night. Bokondji Imama scored twice while Isiah Campbell added a solo marker. Alex D'Orio made 31 saves in the loss. The Mooseheads are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles last night. Arnaud Durandeau and Frederic Aube scored for the Moose. Alexis Gravel made 35 stops in the loss.

2016-17 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 5-2-0-0 against the Mooseheads this season while Halifax is 2-5-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: March 11 at Harbour Station where the Sea Dogs defeated the Mooseheads 5-3. Cole Reginato, Thomas Chabot, Samuel Dove-McFalls, Spencer Smallman and Joe Veleno all scored for Saint John. Otto Somppi scored a pair for Halifax while Raphael Lavoie added a single. Alex D'Orio made 27 saves in the win. Alexis Gravel made 21 stops in the loss.

1. The Sea Dogs, having already clinched first overall, opted to sit several regulars last night and will likely do the same tonight. The Sea Dogs were without Julien Gauthier, Spencer Smallman, Mathieu Joseph, Simon Bourque, Thomas Chabot and Callum Booth last night.

2. Saint John had an eight-game losing streak come to an end last night in Charlottetown.

3. Halifax has clinched a playoff spot but is in a battle for positioning. The Mooseheads, Drummondville Voltigeurs and Baie-Comeau Drakkar are all tied with 60 points in the 12th, 13th and 14th slots.
