Notebook: Third-round has been good to Sea Dogs over the years

SAINT JOHN - At the moment, the Saint John Sea Dogs won't be picking in the QMJHL Entry Draft until the third round.

That's not ideal, obviously. But here's some positive news: the Sea Dogs have picked some very good players in the third round of past drafts.

Tim Roszell's By The Numbers highlighted a few of those players. Here's the full list:

2006: Karel St-Laurent
2008: Stephen MacAulay
2009: Scott Oke
2010: Guillaume Cloutier
2010: Devon Oliver-Dares
2011: Maxime Gravel
2013: Joey Richard
2013: Samuel Dove-McFalls

2015: Vincent Martineau
2016: Isiah Campbell

That's a pretty good list, even though there have been some misses.

IMAMA SIGNING
This is an interesting note from LA Kings Insider regarding the Boko Imama signing:

After posting yesterday’s story I spoke with hockey operations about this opportunity and how they viewed Imama, and one of the first things conveyed was that there was no pre-arranged deal that he’d sign. They simply loved his development this past year and took a chance on a player who took on a leadership role and focused more on scoring and other habits that won the Sea Dogs hockey games, and they ultimately were able to come to terms with the power forward on Thursday.

The Kings signed Imama just before Thursday's deadline. They acquired his rights in a trade with Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
