Game Day 2: vs Screaming Eagles

SAINT JOHN - The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles visit Harbour Station tonight to take on the Saint John Sea Dogs at 7 p.m.

The Sea Dogs dropped their season opener 4-1 to the Halifax Mooseheads on Thursday night at home. The Screaming Eagles, meanwhile, defeated the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 3-2 in a shootout last night.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 0-1-0-0 (0 points, 17th QMJHL, 6th Maritimes) while the Screaming Eagles are 1-0-0-0 (2 points, 9th QMJHL, 3rd Maritimes).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Halifax Mooseheads on Thursday. Daniel Hardie scored Saint John's lone goal while Alex D'Orio made 24 saves in the loss. The Screaming Eagles are coming off a 3-2 shootout win in Bathurst last night. Olivier Bourret and Phelix Martineau scored for the Screaming Eagles. Kyle Jessiman made 40 saves in the win.

2016-17 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs went 6-2-1-0 against the Screaming Eagles last season while Cape Breton went 3-6-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Aug. 20 at the Superior Propane Centre in Moncton where the Screaming Eagles defeated the Sea Dogs 5-1 in the fifth-place game of the of the QMJHL's Rookie Showcase.

Random stat: The Sea Dogs were one of four teams to score just one goal in their season opener. The Rimouski Oceanic were shutout.

Screaming Eagle to watch: Brooklyn Kalmikov - a first-round pick of the Screaming Eagles, Kalmikov recorded three goals and six assists during the preseason. Six of those points came during the rookie tournament.

Notes: Daniel Hardie has Saint John's only goal this season. Ostap Safin and Joe Veleno each have assists... Declan Smith has two assists for the Screaming Eagles.... Olivier Bourret and Phelix Martineau have goals... the Screaming Eagles went 0/6 on the power play in their season opener.
