Game Day 53: vs Cataractes

SAINT JOHN - The league's two last-place teams meet tonight at Harbour Station.

The Saint John Sea Dogs and Shawinigan Cataractes have sat together in the league's basement for much of the season. With last night's victory, the the Sea Dogs moved back ahead of the Cataractes and into 17th place overall.

Tonight's game takes place at 7 p.m. at Harbour Station.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 13-30-7-2 for 35 points (6th Maritimes, 17th QMJHL) while the Cataractes are 15-33-4-0 for 34 points (6th East, 18th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a big 6-3 upset win over the Halifax Mooseheads last night at Harbour Station. Ostap Safin and Robbie Burt each scored twice while singles came from Anthony Boucher and Ben Reid. Alex D'Orio made 28 saves in the win. The Cataractes are coming off a 5-2 loss in Bathurst last night. Jeremy Manseau and Leon Denny scored for Shawinigan. Lucas Fitzpatrick made 36 saves in the loss.

2017-18 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 0-0-1-0 against the Cataractes this season while Shawinigan is 1-0-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Nov. 4 in Shawinigan where the Cataractes edged the Sea Dogs 3-2 in overtime. Gabriel Sylvestre, Antoine Demers and Cameron Askew scored for Shawinigan. Saint John goals came from Ostap Safin and Joe Veleno. Lucas Fitzpatrick made 30 stops in the win. Alex D'Orio made 32 stops in the loss.
