Game Day 57: vs Wildcats

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs return to home ice this evening, hosting the Moncton Wildcats at 7 p.m.

The Sea Dogs have lost four straight games - dropping all three matches on their Quebec road trip last week - and are just 1-7-2-0 in their last 10 games. Saint John sits seven points back of the league's final playoff spot with 12 games to go, making a win tonight critical for the Dogs' slim playoff hopes.

Game time is 7 p.m. at Harbour Station.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 13-33-8-2 for 36 points (6th Maritimes, 18th QMJHL) while the Wildcats are 23-27-5-3 for 54 points (5th Maritimes, 13th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 5-3 loss in Rouyn-Noranda on Saturday. Ben Reid, Robbie Burt and Ostap Safin scored Saint John goals. Matthew Williams made 55 saves in the loss. The Wildcats are coming off an 8-3 loss to the Rimouski Oceanic on home ice on Sunday. Adam Capannelli, Jakob Pelletier and Dylan Seitz scored for Moncton. Mark Grametbauer allowed two goals on two shots before being pulled. Matthew Waite allowed six goals on 32 shots in relief.

2017-18 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 3-3-1-0 against the Wildcats this season while Moncton is 4-1-1-1 against Saint John.

Last meeting: These two haven't met since New Year's Eve in Moncton where the Wildcats defeated the Sea Dogs 5-1. Jeremy McKenna scired twice for Moncton while singles came from Jakob Pelletier, Adam Capannelli and Daniil Miromanov. Saint John's lone goal came from Kevin Gursoy. Mark Grametbauer made 19 saves in the win. Alex D'Orio made 34 stops in the loss.
