RECAP: Sea Dogs lose 6-3

FINAL: Charlottetown 6, Saint John 3
SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs dropped their sixth straight game on Thursday night at Harbour Station.

The Charlottetown Islanders scored three goals in the second period en route to a 6-3 win over the Sea Dogs.

Pierre-Olivier Joseph scored twice while singles came from Daniel Hardie, Nikita Alexandrov, Olivier Desjardins and Hunter Drew. Dakota Lund-Cornish made 28 saves in the win.

Alexis Girard, Cole Reginato and Kevin Mason had goals for Saint John. Matthew Williams made 33 saves in the loss.

The loss keeps Saint John six points back of the Val-d'Or Foreurs, who currently hold the league's final playoff spot. The Sea Dogs have 10 games remaining on their schedule.

Girard opened the scoring at 14:15 of the first period with a power play goal. Cole Reginato made his way off the side boards and fired a pass to Girard in the high slot. The defenceman fired a bomb past Lund-Cornish, making it 1-0.

Charlottetown wasted little time tying things up. Just 34 seconds later, Alexandrov scored on a two-on-none with Derek Gentile, making it a 1-1 game.

Just 24 seconds into the second period, Joseph made his way around the Saint John defence before firing a shot past Williams, giving Charlottetown a 2-1 advantage.

The Islanders took a 3-1 lead at 3:09 when Hardie put a rebound over the pad of Williams.

Reginato got Saint John within one at 10:19. Radim Salda fired a point shot that went off the glove of Lund-Cornish and sat on the goal line. Reginato was in front and shot the puck in, making it 3-2.

The Isles took a 4-2 advantage at 13:25. Joseph fired a shot that ended up weirdly banking off Williams and in, adding to Charlottetown's lead.

Charlottetown made it a 5-2 game at 4:50 of the third. Desjardins fired a shot that went off Tyler Hungerbuhler's stick and past Williams.

The Islanders extended their lead to 6-2 on a power play at 8:59 when Drew scored.

Mason scored his first QMJHL goal at 16:07, firing a wrist shot through some traffic that beat Lund-Cornish. That made it a 6-3 contest.
