Game Day 65: vs Wildcats

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs play their final home game of the regular season tonight at Harbour Station.

The Sea Dogs are still alive in the QMJHL's playoff race, but need a miracle to slide ahead of the 16th-place Val-d'Or Foreurs with just four games remaining.

Saint John will take on the Moncton Wildcats this evening in what will be the final meeting of the season between the two rivals. Game time is 7 p.m.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 14-39-9-2 for 39 points (6th Maritimes, 17th QMJHL) while the Wildcats are 25-31-5-3 for 58 points (5th Maritimes, 15th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-4 loss to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan last night at Harbour Station. Cole Reginato, Anthony Boucher, Nathan Larose and William Poirier scored for Saint John. Matthew Williams made 28 saves through 40 minutes while Tommy DaSilva made 15 stops in the third. The Wildcats are coming off a 4-2 loss to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Wednesday in Sydney. Jack Tucker and James Phelan scored for Moncton. Mark Grametbauer made 17 saves in the loss.

2017-18 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 3-3-2-0 against the Wildcats this season while Moncton is 5-1-1-1 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Feb. 21 at Harbour Station where the Wildcats defeated the Sea Dogs 4-3 in overtime. Alexander Khovanov, Nicholas Welsh, James Phelan and Jeremy McKenna scored for Moncton. Anthony Boucher scored twice for Saint John while William Poirier added a single. Mark Grametbauer made 23 saves in the win. Alex D'Orio made 45 saves in the loss.

Random stat: If the Sea Dogs lose tonight they will set a franchise record for fewest home wins in a regular season. The current franchise low is nine, set in the expansion 2005-06 season.

Wildcat to watch: James Phelan has 13 goals and 16 assists in 23 games since joining the Wildcats from the Victoriaville Tigres.
